Friendship Day: August 5
Friendship Day celebrates the solace we find in best friends, the trust we have in old friends, and the joy we discover in new friends. It recognizes the special role friends play in our lives — the ears they lend us in bad times; the smiles they give us in times of joy. Friendship Day acknowledges our appreciation for memories shared and the anticipation of memories yet to come.
Most of all, Friendship Day is about personal connections. Friends share memories and give recognition to one another by sending cards, flowers, and gifts.
Sisters’ Day: August 5
“To have a loving relationship with a sister,” wrote Victoria Secunda, an award winning journalist and lecturer, “is not simply to have a buddy or confidante — it is to have a soul mate for life.”
Sisters’ Day celebrates the spirit of sisterhood between biological sisters, adopted sisters, sisterly friends, and sorority sisters. On this day, sisters show appreciation for one another by spending time together and sharing memories and photos, as well as sending cards, flowers, and gifts.
